Diversity Can Drive Innovation

Innovation — a business imperative for organizations regardless of size or industry — often occurs as a byproduct of a diverse workforce collaborating, according to Tricia Dupilka, director of talent solutions at BPI Group, a global management and HR consulting firm.

Innovation can occur when two or more people with different backgrounds or what Dupilka calls “webs of ideas and experiences” come together to collaborate. This makes a solid diversity strategy a necessity.

“If your web, the way you think about the world, is different than another person’s and you get together and start working through something, all of the things that are one step away become much bigger,” she said.
