For the 21st time in the last 26 years, the Super Bowl winning team hails from the metropolitan area with the lower unemployment rate, according to an analysis by RiseSmart, an outplacement services provider.
Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the team whose metropolitan area boasts the lower jobless rate has now enjoyed an 81 percent success rate since 1988.
The Baltimore Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) had a 7 percent unemployment rate in December 2012 and an annual rate of 7.2 percent, compared to a December rate of 7.3 percent and an annual rate of 8.2 percent for the San Francisco metro area.
The Baltimore Ravens defeated the San Franciso 49ers in Sunday’s Super Bowl, 34-31.
