Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau (DCVB) has announced that 24-year bureau veteran Cheryl Richards will assume the role of senior vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer, a new position in the firm.
Richards will aim to create and implement a strategic plan to elevate the DCVB as a leader in diversity and inclusion at the local, national and international levels. She will report to Dallas CVB President and CEO Phillip Jones and serve as the liaison to the newly formed diversity and inclusion ad hoc committee.
Part of the DCVB’s mission is to market Dallas as the ideal convention and visitor destination for women, multicultural, multigenerational and LGBT groups.
Richards most recently served as DCVB’s vice president of strategic alliances responsible for establishing the membership sales and service standard for the bureau, overseeing corporate partnerships, member-based publications and daily operations of the member services department.
Richards received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of North Texas. She is a member of several community organizations including Dallas Fort Worth Area Tourism Council, Dallas Zoological Society board of directors, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and Meeting Professionals International’s Foundation Board of Directors (U.S. Council).
